Did you go to uni? If not, what was your route into PR? After studying Media and Communications at Swansea University I became fascinated by PR and was offered a scholarship to study for a Masters in PR and Media Practice. I then interned at a PR consultancy specialising in travel and became a PR consultant before joining Radioactive PR.
Favourite film? Jaws, always Jaws… although sometimes Hot Fuzz, or maybe Lord of the Rings or maybe Scream.
Favourite site to waste time on? It’s the original time-wasting site and still my undisputed favourite – YouTube
Why PR? I love writing and the variety that comes with PR, no two days are ever the same.
I love that PR is always changing and adapting with the world around it. My goal is to never stop learning and I think that PR is a great field to work in as there is always more to learn.
Dream client? My dream client has to be Guinness, not only have they done some really exciting marketing campaigns in the past, but it also tastes great!
Tell us three interesting facts about you:
- I was named after Ryan Giggs so had no choice but to become a United fan, sadly I lacked the pace, touch, skill and ability to follow in his footsteps.
- I am terrified of Ostriches and Emus … they are literally dinosaurs.
- I was lucky enough to attend the Cannes Film Festival last year and got close enough to Bill Murray to touch him… not that I did, because that would be weird.
Describe yourself in a few sentences: I am always up for a challenge and love to try new things as no matter how badly you may be at something to begin with, you can always improve! (it is just taking a long time for that to take affect with surfing)
Where can we find you online? Normally rambling about films, you can find me on Twitter at @ryanjohntweets.
